Jade and Ochre Jade and Ochre

"Jade and Ochre"
Jaisalmer, India

This rich architecture was on a wall high off the street. The streets of India are not really streets as I normally think of them. Everything blurs together in a surrealistic nightmare so characteristic of India. You really can’t walk on the sidewalk, because sellers, beggars, children, vehicles and animals of an unimaginable diversity are everywhere. The very first day of this trip, nursing jet lag which merged seamlessly with the Indian reality, I spotted this astonishing architecture when the light was too bright to capture the image. I decided to return when the light was softer. I continued my walk. At one point I glanced back and found myself with the prospect of being trampled either by an elephant on one side or a camel on the other. I smiled to myself, shook my head, faced forward, and continued my walk of the streets of India.
